A stadium woven into Inter's history
San Siro opened in 1926 and Inter moved their home matches there in 1947. Over the decades it became the setting for domestic titles, European nights, derbies and generations of Nerazzurri support.
Why “Giuseppe Meazza”?
The stadium was officially named after Giuseppe Meazza, the Milan-born forward who became Inter's historic goalscoring icon and also starred for Italy. Supporters still commonly use “San Siro”, while “Stadio Giuseppe Meazza” is the formal name.
1990 and the third ring
Major work for the 1990 World Cup created the stadium's distinctive third tier and roof structure, producing the visual form most supporters recognise today.
