Remembering Sandro Mazzola
Sandro Mazzola died on 19 September 2026, aged 83. Across 17 seasons he made 565 appearances and scored 161 goals for Inter, spending his entire professional career in Nerazzurri colours. He won four Scudetti, two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups, and scored twice against Real Madrid in the 1964 European Cup final to help deliver Inter's first European crown.
His individual record was just as distinguished: he finished as the European Cup's leading scorer in 1964 with seven goals, won the Serie A scoring title in 1964/65 with 17 goals, and was runner-up for the 1971 Ballon d'Or. Inter inducted him into the club's Hall of Fame in 2022.
